As the owner of a digital marketing agency it's a good job I'm a tech-lover (not a hater).
When I started 11 by 11, I needed/wanted to be able to work in different locations, I didn't want an office full of paperwork and I saw an opportunity to grow a business using the fantastic online software that is available to businesses today, so I set myself up with cloud solutions across the board... and now I only have a computer, cup of tea and a bizarre peacock-shaped pen-holder on my desk.
Anyway, without further nonsense... here are my 5 favourite/essential cloud softwares:
1. Xero - Accounting
I've used Xero for over 5 years now (in my own business and with a previous employer) and can genuinely say... it's ACE.
It is simple and intuitive and comes pretty close to making book-keeping fun!
It's top 3 benefits (in my opinion) are:
1. Rapid quoting and invoicing.
2. Integration with other cloud software (there are thousands of 'add-on' solutions that link to Xero).
3. Portability - I can use it on my computer or phone/tablet.
2. Wunderlist - List Making
I'm not your typical list maker (I don't have a list for everything)... but Wunderlist is a fantastic tool.
I use it to keep track of jobs (and to set deadline reminders) but I also have shared lists with clients - so that they can easily add 'to-do' items to projects that we're working on (shared lists sync instantly across devices).
It also makes a wonderful, very satisfying 'ding' noise when you tick a completed item!
3. Dropbox - File Storage
Dropbox does just the job for me in terms of file storage and backup. Everything I work on is saved to Dropbox - which means I can access it from different devices and I can sleep peacefully in the knowledge that all my work is secure.
It's also great for sharing large files/folders (rather than trying to email them) or having joint project folders.
4. Mailchimp - Email Marketing
For me, Mailchimp is the original and the best when it comes to email marketing software. It provides all the tools to design modern and beautiful e-newsletters.
One of the main benefits is the price! They offer a fantastic FREE plan (with tonnes of functionality).
It also integrates really well with other software/platforms.
5. Suggestion Ox - Online Suggestion Box
This one is a lesser known solution but I am so glad I discovered it. Suggestion Ox provides an anonymous way for staff/clients/anyone to provide feedback or suggestions via an online link (unique to your business).
I've used this for my own business but have also set clients up with it as an in-house suggestion box tool (just share a link with staff members and they can enter suggestions completely anonymously).
